| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of
Donald James Landsverk of Wadsworth, who | 4 |
| passed away on May 9, 2009; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Donald Landsverk spent his early years growing up | 6 |
| around the Green Bay, Wisconsin area; he moved to California in | 7 |
| the early 1950s; he then relocated to North Chicago in 1959, | 8 |
| where he met and married his wife Mavis in 1960; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, In 1961, Donald Landsverk started Jack-Son Auto | 10 |
| Sales Inc. in Waukegan, where he served as President until | 11 |
| 2008; in 1970, he was the very first car dealer to move from | 12 |
| the lakefront downtown car dealer area to Green Bay Road, where | 13 |
| Waukegan's car dealer row is currently located; his dealership | 14 |
| was originally located at the lakefront on Sheridan Road on the | 15 |
| curve just south of Belvedere Road; he was a Simca dealer in | 16 |
| 1970 and was Waukegan's Subaru dealer; he was also the Rupp | 17 |
| snowmobile, mini-bike, and go-cart dealer in Waukegan from 1971 | 18 |
| to 1972; his 48 years of hard work and many achievements made | 19 |
| him Lake County's oldest and largest used car dealer; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Donald Landsverk and former Waukegan Mayor | 21 |
| Sabonjian were featured together several times in the Waukegan | 22 |
| News Sun for their mutual love of toys and various promotions; |

| the pair also was the first to cut the ribbon and take the | 2 |
| first inaugural ride in Mr. Landsverk's 1926 Ford Model T | 3 |
| Doctor's Coupe to celebrate the new overpass built on Route 43; | 4 |
| and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Donald Landsverk was a member of the Waukegan Elks | 6 |
| Lodge 702 for over 40 years; he was also a member of St | 7 |
| Patrick's Church in Wadsworth; and | 8 |
| WHEREAS, Donald Landsverk was preceded in death by his | 9 |
| mother, Doris; his father, Jack Landsverk; and his sons, Steven | 10 |
| and Gregory Landsverk; and
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Donald Landsverk is survived by his wife of 48 | 12 |
| years, Mavis (nee Johnson); his sons, Scott (Renee), Stuart | 13 |
| (Julie), and Brian (Lori); his daughter, Connie (Bob) Besanson; | 14 |
| his daughter-in-law, Suzanne (Steven); his beloved | 15 |
| grandchildren, Andrew, Eric, Jack, Zach, Sarah, Lily, Nathan | 16 |
| Clark, Brett Clark, Addison Clark, Lisa Besanson, and Robert | 17 |
| Besanson; his sister, Barbara (Paul) Uttormark; his uncle, | 18 |
| Monte (Joyce) Landsverk; and his many great-grandchildren, | 19 |
| cousins, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 21 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 22 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Donald James Landsverk; |
