AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2228

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2228 as follows:

on page 1, by replacing line 5 with the following:

"Employees Mentoring Leave Act."; and

on page 1, by replacing line 8 with the following:

"to participate in qualified mentoring programs."; and

by replacing line 22 on page 1 through line 1 on page 2 with the following:

""Qualified mentoring program" means a program that finances, arranges for, and otherwise facilitates the mentoring, by adults, on a one-to-one basis, of children who are:

(1) enrolled in any school level between kindergarten and the 12th grade; and

(2) under the age of 18. Additionally, a qualified mentoring program must be a not-for-profit, secular entity, organized under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. A qualified mentoring program must also have been in existence for at least 10 years before the effective date of this Act.".
