HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United
4States Army Sergeant Mark A. Simpson, of Fort Hood, Texas,
5formerly of Peoria, who was killed in the line of duty while
6serving his country in Kandahar, Afghanistan, on September 26,
72010; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He was born on February 3, 1970, to George and
9Carol Simpson in Peoria; he graduated from Richwood High School
10in Peoria; after working as a security guard, a truck driver,
11and in food management, he joined the United States Army in
122005, and served tours at Fort Drum and Fort Hood before
13deploying to the Afghanistan war; and
 
14    WHEREAS, His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the
15Purple Heart Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal; and
 
16    WHEREAS, United States Army Sergeant Mark A. Simpson was
17deployed with the Fort Hood, Texas-based 584th Mobility
18Augmentation Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer
19Brigade; and
 
20    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his son, Mark A.
21Simpson Jr.; and

1    WHEREAS, United States Army Sergeant Mark Simpson is
2survived by his wife, Aletha A. Simpson; his three daughters,
3Shantallia K. Simpson, Krystin M. Simpson, and Jamie S.
4Simpson; his brother, George F. Simpson; his three sisters,
5Beth A. Camp, Carol K. Goewey, and Amy K. Lee; and his parents,
6George and Carol Simpson; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful nation,
10the passing of United States Army Sergeant Mark A. Simpson; and
11be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of United States Army
13Sergeant Mark A. Simpson and his willingness to serve his
14country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of United States Army Sergeant Mark A.
18Simpson as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
