SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
210 ILCS 50/3.1030 new

    Amends the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act. Provides that the Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health shall develop a working group to advise the Department on Primary Stroke Center Systems; that this work group shall have representation from the following groups: EMS Medical Directors; hospital administrators; neurologists from accredited Primary Stroke Centers; EMS Coordinators; stroke advocates; fire chiefs in Illinois; private ambulance providers; and a representative from the State Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council; and that this group shall also develop and submit a statewide stroke assessment tool to the Department for final approval, a copy of which shall be disseminated to all EMS Systems for adoption no later than January 15, 2011. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning public health.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act
5 is amended by adding Section 3.1030 as follows:
 
6     (210 ILCS 50/3.1030 new)
7     Sec. 3.1030. Working group; Primary Stroke Center Systems.
8 The Director shall develop a working group to advise the
9 Department on Primary Stroke Center Systems. This work group
10 shall have representation from the following groups: EMS
11 Medical Directors; hospital administrators; neurologists from
12 accredited Primary Stroke Centers; EMS Coordinators; stroke
13 advocates; fire chiefs in Illinois; private ambulance
14 providers; and a representative from the State Emergency
15 Medical Services Advisory Council. This group shall also
16 develop and submit a statewide stroke assessment tool to the
17 Department for final approval. Once the tool has been approved,
18 a copy shall be disseminated to all EMS Systems for adoption no
19 later than January 15, 2011.
 
20     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
21 becoming law.
