AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 353

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 353, AS AMENDED, in
3 Section 5, by replacing the introductory clause with the
4 following:
5     "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
6 changing Sections 12-821 and 20-204 and by adding Section 3-684
7 as follows:
 
8     (625 ILCS 5/3-684 new)
9     Sec. 3-684. Distinguished Flying Cross license plates.
10     (a) In addition to any other special license plate, the
11 Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and applications
12 made in the form prescribed by the Secretary of State, may
13 issue Distinguished Flying Cross license plates to residents of
14 Illinois who have been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross
15 medal by the United States Armed Forces. The special
16 Distinguished Flying Cross plates issued under this Section
17 shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first

1 division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles of the second
2 division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued
3 under this Section shall expire according to the staggered
4 multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this
5 Code.
6     (b) The design, color, and format of the plates shall be
7 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary of State. The
8 Secretary may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be
9 issued as vanity plates or personalized in accordance with
10 Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates are not required to
11 designate "Land Of Lincoln", as prescribed in subsection (b) of
12 Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary shall, in his or her
13 discretion, approve and prescribe stickers or decals as
14 provided under Section 3-412.
15     (c) An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original
16 issuance in addition to the applicable registration fee. This
17 additional fee shall be deposited into the Secretary of State
18 Special License Plate Fund.".
