| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of John Joseph Scott of Naperville, who | 4 |
| passed away on February 10, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, John Joseph Scott was born in Terra Haute, Indiana | 6 |
| on August 8, 1937; he spent all of his early life in St. Louis, | 7 |
| Missouri; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was a graduate of the St. Louis Institute of | 9 |
| Music in Piano Performance and received a Bachelors of Music | 10 |
| Education; he also received a Masters of Music History and | 11 |
| Literature from Northwestern University in Evanston; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He was a member of the 571st Air National Guard | 13 |
| Band in St. Louis and the 566th Air National Guard at | 14 |
| O'Hare-Chicago; he was a member of the American Federation of | 15 |
| Musicians Local #2, St. Louis, and the American Federation of | 16 |
| Musicians Local #10-208, Chicago; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, John Joseph Scott moved to Naperville in 1964 to | 18 |
| accept a teaching position as Vocal Instructor at Washington | 19 |
| Junior High School, from which he retired in 1994; from 2002 | 20 |
| until 2006 he volunteered as a pianist in the out-patient area | 21 |
| of Edward Hospital in Naperville; and

| WHEREAS, When he moved to the Chicago area, he played as a | 2 |
| sideman and was a bandleader, composer, and arranger; and | 3 |
| WHEREAS, John Joseph Scott is survived by his wife of 45 | 4 |
| years, Betty Jane Scott; his son, David (Ashley) Scott; his | 5 |
| daughter, Beth Anne (Trey) Hardy; his grandchildren, Sierra | 6 |
| Jane Scott, David Jonathan Scott, Garrett Nobel Hardy, and | 7 |
| Elizabeth June Hardy; and his devoted caregiver, Judy | 8 |
| Lednarova; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 10 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 11 |
| his family and friends, the passing of John Joseph Scott; and | 12 |
| be it further
| 13 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 |
| presented to the family of John Joseph Scott as a symbol of our | 15 |
| sympathy.
