SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 1305/10-33 new

    Amends the Department of Human Services Act. Requires the Department of Human Services to establish and administer a program to educate disabled women who reside in group homes, nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, or similar institutions concerning the prevention of sexual assault. Provides that the training must include information on indications of possible occurrences of sexual assault, the rights of sexual-assault victims, and any public or private victim-assistance programs and resources available, including resources available through the Office of the Attorney General. Requires the Department to seek available federal funding for this purpose. Effective January 1, 2008.

1     AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Department of Human Services Act is amended
5 by adding Section 10-33 as follows:
 
6     (20 ILCS 1305/10-33 new)
7     Sec. 10-33. Sexual assault prevention education program.
8     (a) The Department shall establish and administer a program
9 to educate disabled women who reside in group homes, nursing
10 homes, assisted-living facilities, or similar institutions
11 concerning the prevention of sexual assault. The training must
12 include information on indications of possible occurrences of
13 sexual assault, the rights of sexual-assault victims, and any
14 public or private victim-assistance programs and resources
15 available, including resources available through the Office of
16 the Attorney General.
17     (b) The Department shall seek to attain any federal grants
18 or other funding that may be available for the purpose of this
19 Section.
20     (c) The Department shall adopt any rule necessary for the
21 implementation and administration of the program under this
22 Section.

1     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
2 1, 2008.
