| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor Douglas E. Maxwell, | 4 |
| Imperial Potentate of Shriners International, for the many | 5 |
| years of dedicated service he has given to his community and | 6 |
| the Shriners organization; and
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, While attending college at the University of | 8 |
| Kansas, Douglas E. Maxwell studied architectural engineering | 9 |
| and finance, receiving his degree in 1969; he earned his Master | 10 |
| of Business Administration degree from Southern Illinois | 11 |
| University in 1975; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, In the early 1970s, Douglas E. Maxwell joined the | 13 |
| United States Air Force as a second lieutenant; while serving | 14 |
| in the Air Force, he flew the world routes of the Military | 15 |
| Airlift Command, including missions to Europe, South America, | 16 |
| Africa, Southeast Asia, and Vietnam; in recognition of his | 17 |
| distinguished service during the Vietnam War, he received both | 18 |
| Vietnamese Combat Service medals and the Air Force Commendation | 19 |
| Medal; after the conclusion of the Vietnam War in 1975, he was | 20 |
| discharged from the military as a captain; and
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, In 1975, Douglas E. Maxwell and his father began a | 22 |
| manufacturing company, which builds checkout counter conveyors |

| and speed reducers; today, the Maxwell Manufacturing Company is | 2 |
| the third largest manufacturer of the conveyors in the United | 3 |
| States; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Douglas E. Maxwell is currently serving his 11th | 5 |
| term as a member of the Board of Directors of Shriners | 6 |
| International; during his tenure, he has served as chairman of | 7 |
| the International Development Committee, the Buildings and | 8 |
| Equipment Committee, and the Fleming-Florence Committee; he | 9 |
| has also served on the Investment Committee and the Planning | 10 |
| Committee; and | 11 |
| WHEREAS, Douglas E. Maxwell currently serves as the | 12 |
| Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Shriners Hospitals | 13 |
| for Children, a health care system of 22 hospitals in the | 14 |
| United States, Mexico, and Canada; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Douglas E. Maxwell is a Past Potentate of the | 16 |
| Moolah Shriners in St. Louis, Missouri; he is a 33rd Degree | 17 |
| member of the Scottish Rite, a Knight Templar in the York Rite, | 18 |
| and a member of the Beacon Masonic Lodge #3 and the | 19 |
| International Order of DeMolay Legion of Honor; he is also an | 20 |
| emeritus member of the St. Louis Shriners Hospital Board of | 21 |
| Governors, having served on the Applications Committee and the | 22 |
| Buildings and Equipment Committee; and |

| WHEREAS, Douglas E. Maxwell is a member of the Aircraft | 2 |
| Owners and Pilots Association and the Missouri Pilots | 3 |
| Association; he holds a commercial pilot's license and an | 4 |
| instructor's pilot's license; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Douglas E. Maxwell and his wife, Patricia, are | 6 |
| high school sweethearts and have been married for 39 years; and | 7 |
| WHEREAS, Douglas E. Maxwell serves as a model of hard work, | 8 |
| integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | 9 |
| Illinois; therefore, be it
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 11 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 12 |
| honor Douglas E. Maxwell, Imperial Potentate of Shriners | 13 |
| International, for his many contributions to his community and | 14 |
| the Shriners organization and wish him continued success and | 15 |
| happiness in the future; and be it further
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 |
| presented to Douglas E. Maxwell as a symbol of our esteem and | 18 |
| respect.
