HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox for pitching a no-hitter game against the Texas Rangers on April 18, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Mark Buehrle's no-hitter at U.S. Cellular Park in Chicago secured the 6-0 victory for the Chicago White Sox; it was the first no-hitter for the ballpark, the 16th no-hitter in White Sox franchise history, and the first no-hitter for the White Sox since August 1991; it was Mark Buehrle's first no-hitter; and

WHEREAS, Mark Buehrle threw 66 of his 105 pitches for strikes during the game; he threw out eight batters during the game with only one batter from the Texas Rangers getting on base with a walk, and that runner was picked off first base; and

WHEREAS, Mark Buehrle has a 98-66 lifetime record with the Chicago White Sox, with a 9-3 lifetime record against the Texas Rangers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox on his no-hitter against the Texas Rangers and wish him continued success in his career; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mark Buehrle as a symbol of our respect and with our congratulations.
