HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Illinois was the first State in the nation to
3 professionally recognize the practice of architecture with the
4 passage of the Illinois Architecture Practice Act of 1897; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Illinois architects have been leaders and
6 innovators influencing architecture across the nation and
7 around the world; and
 
8     WHEREAS, The American Institute of Architects was
9 organized on April 13th, 1857, and is now the nation's largest
10 and most influential association for architects and intern
11 architects; and
 
12     WHEREAS, The American Institute of Architects, in honor of
13 its sesquicentennial, has developed a Comprehensive Community
14 Service Program, Blueprint for America, that engages the
15 profession in service to communities across the nation, working
16 collaboratively with government officials and business
17 leaders, engaging citizens in dialogue, sharing basic
18 community design principles, identifying neighborhood
19 conditions in need of improvement, and, along the way,
20 demonstrating the visionary role of architects in creating a
21 better quality of life for all; and

1     WHEREAS, The American Institute of Architects, Illinois
2 Council, will celebrate the past and design the future by
3 honoring 150 Great Places in Illinois that enrich the lives of
4 Illinois citizens and help create better communities;
5 therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8 the members of the Illinois House of Representatives do hereby
9 recognize and congratulate the American Institute of
10 Architects as it marks its 150th Anniversary; and be it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the American Institute of Architects, Illinois
13 Council as a symbol of our respect.
