AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1466

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1466, AS AMENDED,
3 with reference to page and line numbers of House Amendment No.
4 3, as follows:
 
5 on page 2, line 14, after "to", by inserting the following:
6 "(i) violations of State or federal law; (ii) repeat audit
7 findings; (iii) building code and other health or life safety
8 issues; or (iv)"; and
 
9 by replacing line 18 on page 7 through line 9 on page 8 with the
10 following:
11             "(B) Chief educational officer. Upon expiration of
12         the contract of the school district's superintendent
13         who is serving at the time the Panel is established,
14         the Panel may, following consultation with the
15         district, employ a chief educational officer for the
16         district. The chief educational officer shall report

1         to the Panel or the chief executive officer appointed
2         by the Panel. The chief educational officer shall have
3         the authority to determine the agenda and order of
4         business at school board meetings, as needed in order
5         to carry forward and implement the objectives and
6         priorities of the Panel in the administration and
7         management of the district. The chief educational
8         officer shall have all of the powers and duties of a
9         school district superintendent under this Code and
10         such other duties as may be assigned by the Panel, in
11         accordance with this Code. The district shall not
12         thereafter employ a superintendent during the period
13         that a chief educational officer is serving in the
14         district. The chief educational officer shall hold a
15         certificate with a superintendent endorsement issued
16         under Article 21 of this Code.".
