SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

10 ILCS 5/5-110 new
10 ILCS 5/6-110 new

    Amends the Election Code. Beginning January 1, 2009, permits an election authority to accept in-person voter registrations on the day of the consolidated primary election and the day of the consolidated election.

1     AN ACT concerning elections.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Sections
5 4-110, 5-110, and 6-110 as follows:
 
6     (10 ILCS 5/4-110 new)
7     Sec. 4-110. Election day registration. Notwithstanding any
8 other provision of this Code to the contrary, beginning January
9 1, 2009, an election authority may accept the in-person
10 registration of voters on the day of the consolidated primary
11 election and the day of the consolidated election. Each
12 election authority that permits the registration authorized by
13 this Section shall provide by rule for the implementation of
14 this Section.
