SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
705 ILCS 405/2-13.2 new
705 ILCS 405/13.2 new

    Amends the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 and the Adoption Act. Provides that in any proceeding on a petition (1) seeking a finding that a minor is neglected, abused or dependent or (2) seeking a finding that a parent is unfit and that it is in the best interest of the child to terminate parental rights, the parent may demand a trial by jury.

1     AN ACT concerning jury trials.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Juvenile Court Act of 1987 is amended by
5 adding Section 2-13.2 as follows:
 
6     (705 ILCS 405/2-13.2 new)
7     Sec. 2-13.2. Jury trial. In any proceeding on a petition
8 (1) seeking a finding that a minor is neglected, abused, or
9 dependent, or (2) seeking a finding that a parent is unfit and
10 that it is in the best interest of the child to terminate
11 parental rights, under this Act or the Adoption Act, a parent
12 may demand trial by jury.
 
13     Section 10. The Adoption Act is amended by adding Section
14 13.2 as follows:
 
15     (705 ILCS 405/13.2 new)
