1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Pastor Alfred
4 Windom of Chicago; and
5 WHEREAS, Pastor Windom was born to Gaston and Marina
6 Windom on December 29, 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama; he was
7 the second of the oldest of six children; and
8 WHEREAS, Pastor Windom attended Loomis Elementary and
9 Parker High School in Birmingham; from September 2, 1954 to
10 November 22, 1958, he served in active duty in the Armed
11 Forces of the United States; he was a superb Marine and an
12 expert marksman; he was honorably discharged; and
13 WHEREAS, In 1958, Pastor Windom moved to Chicago; he
14 accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and joined Faith
15 Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the
16 late Bishop H. W. Goldsberry; he served as choir member,
17 soloist, and minister; in 1969, he was ordained as an Elder;
18 he also traveled as an evangelist and did so until he became
19 Pastor; he served as Pastor of True Vine C.O.G.I.C. and he
20 wrote his own pages in history the day he entered the world;
21 during this time, he married the former Estellina Moore, to
22 this union six children were born; she preceded him in death;
23 and
24 WHEREAS, Pastor Windom was an intricate part of the
25 "Challengers for Christ", these great men of God evangelized
26 and ministered the gospel across this country; he touched the
27 lives of so many Pastors and members; and
28 WHEREAS, Pastor Windom worked for the Postal Service for
29 approximately 10 years; he moved up through the ranks from a
30 clerk to a supervisor; he was a diligent worker and manager;
31 he along with Elder Robert Brown shared the responsibilities

1 as proprietors of Bob & Al's Star Fire Repair Shop; and
2 WHEREAS, Pastor Windom married the lovely Georgia Peacock
3 and a son was added to his family; and
4 WHEREAS, Amongst his many noteworthy distinctions, he
5 faithfully served his family untiringly and relentless as
6 husband, father, and dad; he enjoyed fishing, planning family
7 vacations, and traveling with his family; and
8 WHEREAS, Pastor Windom's passing will be deeply felt by
9 many, especially his devoted wife and First Lady, Georgia G.
10 Windom; his children, Timothy Earl, Alfred (Octavia),
11 Nathaniel (Atisi), Joseph, Demetrius (Meechye), Debra, Gloria
12 (Donald), and Estella; his grandchildren, Donald II, Stephon,
13 Terrell, Kristin, Brianna, Jeremy, Kaleb, Ashur, Asim, and
14 Andre'; his sister, Matilda (Lee Freddie) White; his brother,
15 John Windom; his sister-in-law, Diane Mallory, (The Moore
16 Family) Nieces: Lela, Wendy, Ardene, Alfreida, Marina, Gwen,
17 and nephews: Bennie, Wendell, Lee Freddie Jr., Norman and
18 Gaston; and a host of relatives and friends; and
19 WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his first wife,
20 Estellina Moore; and his son, James Arthur; therefore be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
22 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
23 Pastor Alfred Windom along with all who knew and loved him
24 and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends;
25 and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to the family of Pastor Alfred Windom as an
28 expression of our deepest sympathy.
