1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of
3 the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of
4 Floyd Deming of Liberty on Tuesday, October 30, 2003, at the
5 age of 109; and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Deming was born on May 15, 1894, in Adams
7 County to Charlie and Janie Hultz Deming; he married Anna
8 Ballmyer in Macomb on May 31, 1919; they devoted 81 years to
9 each other as loving partners, parents, and friends; she
10 preceded him in death on February 20, 2001; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Deming spent most of his life farming near
12 Liberty before moving to the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy
13 in 1991; he enjoyed hunting, pitching horseshoes, wrestling,
14 dancing, and playing cards; he was a member of Faith Baptist
15 Church in Camp Point; and
16 WHEREAS, Mr. Deming had the distinction of being the
17 oldest living veteran in Illinois, having served in the U.S.
18 Army during World War I in the 124th Infantry, Company K; he
19 entered the United States Army on June 26, 1918, in an effort
20 to provide honorable service to the citizens of the United
21 States of America; he was discharged with an excellent
22 character on January 4, 1919; and
23 WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Deming has been deeply felt
24 by many, especially his children, Irene Warning, Ruth
25 Schwartz, Rita Sparks, Joann Breneman, and Walter Deming; his
26 16 grandchildren; and his numerous great grandchildren,
27 great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great
28 grandchildren; therefore, be it
29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
30 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
31 we mourn the passing of Floyd Deming and extend our sincerest

1 condolences to his friends and family; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the family of Floyd Deming as an expression of
4 our deepest sympathy during their time of bereavement.
