1 AN ACT concerning higher education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5 adding Section 7a-5 as follows:
6 (110 ILCS 305/7a-5 new)
7 Sec. 7a-5. Violation of policy governing student
8 conduct; fine.
9 (a) If a student has paid a fine to a municipality for
10 conduct involving alcohol that violated an ordinance and the
11 University imposes a fine on that student for the same
12 conduct because the conduct violated a university policy
13 governing student conduct (and if the student has submitted
14 proof to the University that a fine was imposed by and paid
15 to the municipality for the same conduct), then the
16 University must credit the fine paid to the municipality
17 against the fine imposed by the University.
18 (b) If a student has paid a fine to the University for
19 conduct involving alcohol that violated a university policy
20 governing student conduct and a municipality imposes a fine
21 on that student for the same conduct because the conduct
22 violated an ordinance (and if the student has submitted proof
23 to the University that a fine was imposed by the municipality
24 for the same conduct), then the University must pay to the
25 municipality on behalf of the student the fine imposed by the
26 municipality or that part of the fine that equals the amount
27 of the fine imposed by the University, whichever is less.
28 (c) Nothing in this Section shall prevent the University
29 from taking any other disciplinary action against the
30 student.

1 Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
2 Act is amended by adding Section 8a-5 as follows:

28 Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended
29 by adding Section 5-62 as follows:
