1 AN ACT in regard to vehicles.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5 changing Section 3-806.3 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/3-806.3) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-806.3)
7 Sec. 3-806.3. Senior Citizens.
8 Commencing with the 2001 registration year and extending
9 through the 2003 registration year, the registration fee paid
10 by any vehicle owner who has claimed and received a grant
11 under the Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax
12 Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act or who is the spouse
13 of such a person shall be $24 instead of the fee otherwise
14 provided in this Code for passenger cars displaying standard
15 multi-year registration plates issued under Section 3-414.1,
16 motor vehicles displaying special registration plates issued
17 under Section 3-616, motor vehicles registered at 8,000
18 pounds or less under Section 3-815(a) and recreational
19 vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds or less under Section
20 3-815(b). Widows and widowers of claimants shall also be
21 entitled to this reduced registration fee for the
22 registration year in which the claimant was eligible.
23 DuringCommencing with the 2004 registration year, the
24 registration fee paid by any vehicle owner who has claimed
25 and received a grant under the Senior Citizens and Disabled
26 Persons Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act
27 or who is the spouse of such a person shall be $24 instead of
28 the fee otherwise provided in this Code for passenger cars
29 displaying standard multi-year registration plates issued
30 under Section 3-414.1, motor vehicles displaying special
31 registration plates issued under Section 3-616, 3-621, 3-622,

1 3-623, 3-624, 3-625, 3-626, 3-628, 3-638, 3-642, 3-645,
2 3-647, 3-650, or 3-651, motor vehicles registered at 8,000
3 pounds or less under Section 3-815(a), and recreational
4 vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds or less under Section
5 3-815(b). Widows and widowers of claimants shall also be
6 entitled to this reduced registration fee for the
7 registration year in which the claimant was eligible.
8 Commencing with the 2004 registration year, the
9 registration fee paid by any vehicle owner who is eligible
10 for a grant under the Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons
11 Property Tax Relief and Pharmaceutical Assistance Act or who
12 is the spouse of an eligible person shall be $24 instead of
13 the fee otherwise provided in this Code for passenger cars
14 displaying standard multi-year registration plates issued
15 under Section 3-414.1, motor vehicles displaying special
16 registration plates issued under Section 3-616, motor
17 vehicles registered at 8,000 pounds or less under Section
18 3-815(a), and recreational vehicles registered at 8,000
19 pounds or less under Section 3-815(b). Widows and widowers of
20 eligible persons are also entitled to this reduced
21 registration fee for the registration year in which the
22 person was eligible.
23 No more than one reduced registration fee under this
24 Section shall be allowed during any 12 month period based on
25 the primary eligibility of any individual, whether such
26 reduced registration fee is allowed to the individual or to
27 the spouse, widow or widower of such individual. This
28 Section does not apply to the fee paid in addition to the
29 registration fee for motor vehicles displaying vanity or
30 special license plates.
