HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize John Conrad on the occasion of his serving the people of the City of Columbia, Monroe County, and Illinois for the past 50 years; and

WHEREAS, John Conrad has served on the board of directors of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce for 50 years, working hard to support local businesses and business owners; and

WHEREAS, John Conrad has shown his dedication to the community of Columbia through membership in many other local organizations, including Columbia's July 4th Committee, the Columbia Lions Club, the City of Columbia PLAY Commission, the U.S.S. Columbia Submarine Launch and Commissioning Community, the Columbia Sesquicentennial Celebration Committee in 2009, and the Sister Cities of Columbia; and

WHEREAS, John Conrad has also served in numerous civic organizations, including the Boy Scouts, the U.S. Army Reserves, Human Support Services, the Southwestern Illinois Flood Prevention District Council, the Monroe County Local Emergency Planning Committee, the Monroe County Board of Appeals, the Monroe County YMCA Capital Campaign, and the SIU Edwardsville Alumni Board; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, John Conrad has been the recipient of multiple awards, including the Pillar of the Community award in 1996 and being named the Missouri Athletic Club Sportsman of the Year in 2017; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize John Conrad for his service to the people of the City of Columbia, Monroe County, and Illinois for the past 50 years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to John Conrad and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce as an expression of our esteem and respect.
