| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Richard L. "Dick" Taylor of Rantoul, who | 4 | | passed away on July 18, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Taylor was born in Carbondale to Leonard | 6 | | and Doris Taylor on March 12, 1939; he graduated from Fisher | 7 | | Grade School in 1953 and Rantoul Township High School in 1957; | 8 | | he received his bachelor's degree in education from Southern | 9 | | Illinois University Carbondale in 1961 and was proud to be a | 10 | | Saluki; he earned a master's degree from the University of | 11 | | Illinois; he then received a specialist degree in school | 12 | | administration from the University of Illinois; he married | 13 | | Carolyn Kaler at St. Malachy Catholic Church on August 27, | 14 | | 1960; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Richard Taylor was a teacher, coach, and school | 16 | | administrator; he worked at many schools, but spent the | 17 | | majority of his career in the Rantoul and Fisher school | 18 | | districts; he loved all sports, but high school sports had a | 19 | | special place in his heart; he was passionate about learning | 20 | | and a dedicated educator; in the years after his retirement, he | 21 | | looked for better ways to work with children and help them | 22 | | reach their potential; he kept a stack of books next to his | 23 | | chair and notebooks filled with ideas and inspiration; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Richard Taylor also had a passion for travel; he | 2 | | kept an atlas nearby and planned many trips; some of his | 3 | | family's dearest memories resulted from these plans; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Richard Taylor passed many gifts on to his | 5 | | children and grandchildren; the most treasured gift was his | 6 | | ability to fight through adversity and never give up; he | 7 | | demonstrated this characteristic daily; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Richard Taylor was preceded in death by his | 9 | | parents; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Marlene Remington; his | 10 | | grandson, Luke Kaler Remington; and his sisters-in-law, | 11 | | Margaret Anne (Jack) Herbert, Marlene (Jim) Micheletti, Kay | 12 | | (Bob) Neitzel, and Jane Anderson; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Richard Taylor is survived by his wife, Carolyn; | 14 | | his sons, Michael (Theresa) Taylor, Mark (Stacey) Taylor, and | 15 | | Sean (Lisa) Taylor; his daughter, Erin (Brian) Remington; his | 16 | | grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Casey, Samantha, Shelby, Karly, | 17 | | Conor, Whitney, Kyle, Cory, and Brendan; and his | 18 | | step-grandchildren, Shawna (Troy) Jameson, Dustin (Emily) | 19 | | Remington, and Ashley (Jacob) Pruiett; his | 20 | | step-great-grandchildren, Emma, Lily, Shelby, Tristan, Ames, | 21 | | Abe, Hadley, Kade, and Adalynn; his sisters Sharon (Dean) | 22 | | Stevens and Vicki (Jim) Smith; his sister-in-law Hanora Kaler; |

| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 4 | | Richard L. Taylor, and extend our sincere condolences to his | 5 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 6 | | further
| 7 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 8 | | presented to the family of Richard L. Taylor as an expression | 9 | | of our deepest sympathy.
