SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John William Papa of Madison, who passed
4away on August 18, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Papa was born in Madison to John Thomas and
6Helen (Zarr) Papa on July 29, 1925; he married Louise Beatrice
7(Shable) at St. Mary's Catholic Church; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Papa served his country with the United
9States Navy during World War II; he retired from Granite City
10Steel after over 30 years of service as a steelworker; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Papa was a lifelong member of St. Mary's
12Catholic Church in Madison, where he enjoyed helping with the
13pig and lamb roast; he was active with the Men's Booster Club,
14and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Tri-Cities
15Council #1098; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Papa was preceded in death by his parents;
17and his brothers, Francis, Robert, George, Rudy, William, and
18Joseph; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Papa is survived by his beloved wife; his
20sons, John (Pat Edwards), Francis (Lisa), and Christopher

1(Michelle); his grandchildren, Jessica, Jake, Karlo, Lena,
2Luka, and Lilly; his great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Henry;
3his brother Lawrence "Larry" (Susan) Papa; his sisters-in-law,
4Jackie Papa and Pat Papa; several nieces and nephews; and many
5other extended family members and friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8John William Papa, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family and friends of John Papa as an
13expression of our deepest sympathy.
