SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harold J. Possley of Erie, who passed
4away on July 21, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Possley was born in Watertown, Wisconsin to
6Henry J. and Anna T. (Gebhart) Possley on January 19, 1922; he
7married Dorothy Sullivan in Carthage on June 26, 1947; he
8served in the United States Navy during World War II and was
9stationed in the Marshall Islands; and
 
10    WHEREAS, After college, Harold Possley operated the family
11cheese factory in Erie; he finished his career working in sales
12for Tombstone Pizza; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Harold Possley's hobbies included working in his
14woodshop, where he was especially skilled at caning chairs; he
15was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan; he was a
16member of Erie American Legion Post 582, a 4th Degree member of
17the Knights of Columbus, and served on the Erie Village Board
18for 12 years; he was also a charter member of the Lake Erie
19Country Club; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Harold Possley was preceded in death by his
21sister, Valeria Hein, and his brothers, Maurice, Francis, and

1Leroy Possley; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Harold Possley is survived by his wife, Dorothy;
3his children, Maurice (Cathleen) Possley, Timothy (Gail)
4Possley, Rita (Brian) Smith, Rosemary (Doug) Cousins, Thomas
5(Marie) Possley, Madonna Possley, and Joseph (Cathy) Possley;
6his sisters, Elizabeth Langheim and Mary Jane Finnicum; 19
7grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Harold J. Possley, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Harold Possley as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
