SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William B. Armstrong of Rock Island, who
4passed away on July 11, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Armstrong was born in Elmhurst to H. Wayne
6and Alma Kurtz Armstrong on January 9, 1928; he graduated from
7Rock Island High School and attended Western Illinois
8University; he served in the United States Marine Corp and
9married Marcella Hallas at South Park Presbyterian Church in
10Rock Island on August 22, 1948; and
 
11    WHEREAS, William Armstrong worked as a truck driver for the
12Shell Oil Company for 35 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, William Armstrong was an active member of Trinity
14United Methodist Church in Milan; his favorite times included
15family gatherings and walking at Sunset Park; and
 
16    WHEREAS, William Armstrong was preceded in death by his
17wife, Marcella; his parents; his grandson, Steven Secor; and
18his brother, Robert; and
 
19    WHEREAS, William Armstrong is survived by his children,
20Katherine (Richard) Secor, William (Candy) Armstrong, James

1(Linda) Armstrong, Linda Lindy, and Becky (Larry) Reed; his
2grandchildren, Richard (Brenda) Secor, Jeff and Jessica
3Armstrong, Erica (Gary) Greubel, Kara Sears, James (Ashley)
4Armstrong Jr., Dena Heath, Stacey (Ian) Happ, Jacob (Melinda)
5Lindy, Sarah (James) Dickerson, and Emily Reed; 29
6great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Janet Armstrong;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10William B. Armstrong, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of William Armstrong as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
