SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward A. Lioen of Rock Island, who
4passed away on July 14, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Lioen was born in Moline to Alfred and Erma
6Lannoo Lioen on October 26, 1928; he graduated from St. Ambrose
7Academy and attended St. Ambrose College; he married Joan
8Lehner in Davenport, Iowa on September 16, 1950 and served in
9the United States Naval Reserve during the Korean War; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Edward Lioen retired in 1992 after over 40 years
11of service with Deere & Company, where he was Director of
12Pricing; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Edward Lioen was a member of St. Pius X Catholic
14Church in Rock Island, where he was a Eucharistic Minister,
15taking communion to various area nursing homes; he was also a
16member of the Allouez Council 658 Knights of Columbus and a
17longtime member of the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Edward Lioen was preceded in death by his parents
19and his sons, Kevin and David Lioen; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Edward Lioen is survived by his wife, Joan; his

1son, Mark Lioen; his daughter and son-in-law, Therese and
2Jeffery Bloom; his grandchildren, Anna (Kwanza) Morgan,
3Michael (Stephanie) Lioen, David Bloom, Sarah (Sante) Piracci,
4and Thomas Bloom; and his great-grandchildren, Anthony and
5Kalai Lioen, Kieran and Charlize Morgan, and Michael and John
6Piracci; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Edward A. Lioen, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Edward Lioen as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
