SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Norma Ann Showers of Alton, who passed
4away on July 15, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norma Showers was born in Kinmundy to Mark E. and
6Laura A. (Doolen) Headley on January 6, 1929; she married
7Norman Showers in Long Beach, California on December 24, 1950;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Norma Showers was a special education school
10teacher for the Alton School District for over 25 years,
11retiring in 1991; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Norma Showers was a member of Calvary Baptist
13Church in Alton, where she implemented and taught an adult
14special needs Sunday school class; she also began and taught a
15Sunday school class at the Alton Mental Health Center; she
16served on the board for The William M. BeDell Achievement and
17Resource Center (ARC) for 30 years, and was a member of the
18Gideon Auxiliary for many years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Norma Showers was preceded in death by her
20parents; her son, Timothy Michael "Timmy" Showers; and her
21sister, Mary Patricia "Pat" Meyer; and

1    WHEREAS, Norma Showers is survived by her husband of 66
2years, Norman; her sons, Robert A. (Elizabeth Bauer) Showers
3and Mark E. (Jeanne) Showers; her daughters, Carole A. Showers
4and Rebecca S. (Richard) Luer; her grandchildren, Aimee (Shine)
5Lin, Shannon (Jaime) Davis, Katie (Michael) Walsh, Dr.
6Christopher A. Hesh (Dr. Hee Won Lee), Cade M. Bauer-Showers,
7and Laura G. Hesh; her great-grandchildren, Max and Elise Lin;
8her brother, Charles (Marilyn) Headley; her brother-in-law,
9William "Bill" Meyer; and many nieces and nephews; therefore,
10be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Norma Ann Showers, and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Norma Showers as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
