SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Evelyn Dorothy Starner of Joliet, who passed away on June 16, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Starner was born in Joliet to Joshua and Savina (Chadwick) Andrews on October 25, 1918; she attended A. O. Marshall Grade School, Joliet Township High School, and graduated from Pestalozzi-Froebel Teachers College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Starner began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse; later, she taught many years in the New Lenox School district until her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Starner was an active and generous supporter of Ingalls Park United Methodist Church, the Joliet Area Community Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, and the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic; she enjoyed being a hospital volunteer and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Starner was preceded in death by her husband, William Starner; her parents; and her sister, Mariellen Spiers; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Starner is survived by her children, Kay (Leonard) Kaster and Jay (Michele) Starner; her grandchildren, Erica Kaster, Mark (Mallory) Kaster, Aaron (Erin) Starner, and Lindsay Starner; her great-grandson, Ethan Schopp; her nephews, Barry Spiers and Craig (Jacquie) Spiers; and her niece, Debbie Spiers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Evelyn Dorothy Starner, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Evelyn Starner as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
