SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Christopher R. McFadden of Frankfort, who passed away on June 29, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Christopher McFadden was born in Joliet to Susan and Terry McFadden; he attended Joliet West High School and graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 1997, where he was an editor of the Harvard Crimson newspaper; he earned his law degree, cum laude, from the Northwestern University School of Law in 2000, where he was on the law review and earned Order of the Coif; and

WHEREAS, Christopher McFadden was a federal district law clerk in Montgomery, Alabama; he also clerked on the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit; he worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in San Diego, California and Chicago from 2005 to 2016 and never lost a case; while at the U.S. Attorney's Office, he was awarded an FBI Commendation, a National Crime Victims Certificate of Appreciation, and the Chicago Crime Commission Star of Distinction Award; he successfully prosecuted 28 cases, including a $600 million fraud case and a joint case with the Illinois Department of Securities involving $1 billion in funding; he worked at Northwestern University School of Law as an adjust lecturer from 2007 to 2012; most recently, he was an associate at the law firm of Mahoney, Silverman and Cross in Joliet; and

WHEREAS, Christopher McFadden served on the Frankfort School Board and was president from 2013 to 2015; he was re-elected to the Frankfort School Board in April of 2017; and

WHEREAS, Christopher McFadden was a Big 10 baseball umpire and a college basketball official; and

WHEREAS, Christopher McFadden is survived by his parents; his wife, Sarah Bay McFadden; his children, Brooke, Matthew, and Erin; his brothers, James (Ginger) and Daniel (Ashley); two nieces; and one nephew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Christopher R. McFadden, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Christopher McFadden as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
