SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lee W. Short of Bloomington, who passed
4away on January 4, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lee Short was born on May 1, 1921; he graduated
6from Belvidere High School and Illinois Wesleyan University; he
7served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II
8and married Phyllis Jean Smith; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lee Short worked for over 30 years for Illinois
10Wesleyan University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Lee Short served his community through leadership
12positions in the Rotary Club, the Lions Club, the Masonic
13Lodge, Wesley Methodist Church, and the McLean County Board;
14his primary passion was always his love of music, which he
15shared with his entire family; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lee Short was preceded in death by his parents,
17Crawford and Leota Short, and his sister, Leatha Griffis; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lee Short is survived by his wife of 69 years,
19Phyllis; his daughters, Karen Short Mills, Deborah (Ken)
20Hester, Barbara (Steve) Brown, and Nancy (Bill) Pittman; his

1brother, Bill (Sherron) Short; his sister, Betty Briggs; his
2grandchildren, Jonathan (Sally) Hougham, Margaret Mills,
3Eleanor Mills, Jessica (Jacob) Boyd, Molly Brown, William
4Pittman, and Katherine Pittman; and four great-grandsons;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Lee W. Short, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
9friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Lee Short as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
