SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of June Charlotte Robinson of Chicago, who
4passed away on March 7, 2017 at the age of 101; and
 
5    WHEREAS, June Robinson was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to
6Era and Lawrence Robinson on July 16, 1915; she attended
7Phillips High school in Chicago where she pursued a passion for
8music and was part of a noted singing group that began at that
9school; her interest in science and caring for people inspired
10her to enter a Practical Nursing program at Michael Reese
11Hospital, where she was licensed; and
 
12    WHEREAS, June Robinson accepted employment with the
13Veterans Administration, first at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital,
14and subsequently at the West Side VA, now known as Jesse Brown
15VA Medical Center, where she worked for over 30 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, June Robinson was truly a master seamstress,
17sewing and sometimes designing clothes for her children, Vera
18and Loretta; and
 
19    WHEREAS, June Robinson was a member of St. John de la Salle
20parish on Chicago's south side where she was once a member of
21the school board; she loved her many travels to the Holy Land

1of Egypt and to countries in Europe; and
 
2    WHEREAS, June Robinson was preceded in death by her
3husband, John Ireland Meredith; her sister, Loretta; and her
4brother, John; and
 
5    WHEREAS, June Robinson is survived by her daughters, Vera
6Laverne Avery; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grand-children, and
7five great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10June Charlotte Robinson, and extend our sincere condolences to
11her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of June Robinson as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
