SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mark Stephen DeVer of Alton, who passed away on April 16, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Mark DeVer was born in Hillsboro to Helen Eileen (Ruppe) and Ronald James DeVer; he served his country in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1969, and was honorably discharged from the Air Force Reserve in 1970; he married Jeannine Kelly-DeVer on January 2, 1999; and

WHEREAS, Mark DeVer was instrumental in the formation of Metro Supply & Equipment Co. in the 1970s and continued to successfully run that company for over 40 years; he was also co-owner of Danmar Enterprises, Inc., a real estate investment company that focuses on restoring and rehabilitating historic properties in Alton; and

WHEREAS, Mark DeVer enjoyed music, especially gospel music of the Cathedrals, the Gaithers, and the Plainsmen Quartet; he loved to play golf, watch the St. Louis Cardinals, and his dogs, Sophie and Sabrina, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife, taking drives, shopping, working on projects, and staying at their home in Louisiana, Missouri; he was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Cottage Hills and Trinity Lutheran Church in Louisiana, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Mark DeVer was preceded in death by his father, Ronald DeVer; and

WHEREAS, Mark DeVer is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Jeannine; his mother, Helen DeVer; his mother-in-law, Tommie Myers; his son, Derrick DeVer; his siblings, Trent (Kim) DeVer, Renee (David) Hardwick, Jeff (Susan) Padgett, Desiree (Danny) Burke, and Dawn Jacobs; his brothers-in-law, John (Robin) and Michael Kelly; 20 nieces and nephews; 10 great-nieces and nephews; Sabrina, the beloved family dog; and numerous friends and relatives; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mark Stephen DeVer, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mark DeVer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
