SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Nancy M. Godar of Godfrey, who passed
4away on April 6, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy Godar was born to Marjorie and Lambert
6Hoffman in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 6, 1943; after
7her father was killed in action in World War II in 1944, she
8was later adopted and raised by Walter E. Bensman; she married
9Neil J. Godar at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton on August
101, 1964; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Nancy Godar began her career as a registered nurse
12at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alton; she also worked at OSF St.
13Anthony's Hospital in the ICU and at Alton Memorial Hospital in
14medical and surgery; she was best known for her time working at
15Dr. Thomas Morrisey's Pediatric office in Godfrey and later for
16Dr. Khaldoun Elzoobi and Dr. Gita Malur; she loved working as a
17nurse and continued working per diem throughout the COMPASS
18system at St. Anthony's with several different physician's
19offices as well as offering shots at VNA Health Care; she made
20many great friends along the way until her retirement; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Nancy Godar was a longtime member of St. Ambrose
22Catholic Church where she taught and was in charge of the

1Parish School of Religion program and was very active for years
2with the church choir; she loved going to The Muny every
3summer, which was time she treasured with her family; she loved
4to travel and visit her brothers and sisters in Colorado and
5Oregon; she was very active in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the
6Alton Children's Theater, and was a member of the Godfrey
7Women's Club; she also enjoyed embroidery, cross stitching, and
8sewing; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Nancy Godar was preceded in death by her parents,
10Marjorie and Lambert Hoffman; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Nancy Godar is survived by her husband of 52
12years, Neil J. Godar; her children, Joseph (Denise) Godar,
13Donna (Scott) Taul, Debbie Godar and her friend, Scot Lang,
14Lisa (Carmon) Taylor, Cindy (Joel) Curry; her 17 grandchildren,
15Tyler and Ryan Godar, Nathan Taul, Kelsey (Nathan) Schulz,
16Jessica and Jared Taul, Ashley (Sam) McKinney, Amber
17(Johnathan) Jordan, Christian Shank, Sabrina and Matthew
18Fairless, Morgan and Sydney Giron, Veronica and Anakin Taylor,
19and Austin and Hannah Curry; and her siblings, William (Nancy)
20Bensman, Bonnie Mills, Walter (Ginger) Bensman Jr., and Mary
21Lee Bensman; therefore, be it
 
22    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
23ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Nancy M. Godar, and extend our sincere condolences to her
2family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Nancy Godar as an expression of our
6deepest sympathy.
