SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eddie Carter of Rantoul, who passed away
4on February 19, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eddie Carter was born in Greenville, Georgia to
6Jenny Mae and Jimmy Lee Bray on December 11, 1949; he married
7Margurette Brooks on July 24, 1971 and they resided at the
8Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In January 1976, Eddie Carter became a member of
10the Rantoul Police Department; he retired as Deputy Chief in
11June 2005; he attended the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia
12and was honored as Officer of the Year; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Eddie Carter was a member of the First United
14Methodist Church in Rantoul; he was a member of the Kappa Alpha
15Psi Fraternity, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Community
16Service Board, the Revolving Loan Committee, Lone Star Lodge
17No. 18, NOBLE (National Organization of Black Law Enforcement
18Executives), and the Champaign/Urbana Officials Association;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Eddie Carter is survived by his daughter, LaTonya
21Carter-Sanders; his grandchildren, Lauryn DeShon Corell

1Sanders, and Clarence Edward Sanders Jr.; his brother-in-law,
2Paul Brooks; his brothers, Johnny L. and Eddie Bray; his
3sisters, Shirley (Hiram) Hayes, and Vanessa Cutwright; and his
4nieces and nephews, Richard Bray, Stephanie Bray-McCord,
5Alfonso Bray, Jawaun Hayes, Jonathan Bray, and Camille
6Cutwright; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Eddie Carter, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
10friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Eddie Carter as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
