SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marilyn R. Hicks of St. Charles, who passed away on February 21, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Hicks was born in St. Charles to Hazel (Carlson) and Arthur Roehlk on May 7, 1924; she graduated from St. Charles High School in 1942; she studied nursing at Augustana Hospital in Chicago for three years to become a registered nurse; she married Lyle Hicks at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles on May 26, 1946; she later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of St. Francis in Joliet; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Hicks worked at the old Geneva Hospital, Delnor Hospital, and in the offices of two well-known doctors in Geneva; she later became the school nurse at Coultrap Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Hicks was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Glenn and Marjorie; and her husband, Lyle; and

WHEREAS, Marilyn Hicks is survived by her sons, John, James (Vicki), Joel (Sharon), and Lyle; her grandchildren, Byron (Tami), Kyle, James (Heather), and Ian and Kathryn (Jon) Casserilla; her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kendell, Bentley, Mable Rose, and Penelope Iris; and many other dear relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marilyn R. Hicks, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marilyn Hicks as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
