SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gerard Felix "Gerry" Salata of Waukegan, who passed away on October 7, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Gerry Salata graduated from North Chicago High School in 1966; he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and was deployed to Vietnam; his specialty was security, and he earned several medals during his tour; and

WHEREAS, Gerry Salata worked at Johnson Outboard Motors until being hired as a security guard at St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan; he retired from the hospital after 38 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Gerry Salata loved his family, many of his colleagues, and his dogs; he appreciated the close friendships he made at the hospital; and

WHEREAS, Gerry Salata was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Julia (Bonk) Salata, and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Felix "Bud" (Irene Hukala) Salata and Thomas "Tommy" (Marie "Lana" Watson) Salata; and

WHEREAS, Gerry Salata is survived by his sister, Mary Alice (the late Robert) Morrissey; his nieces and nephews, "Vicki" (the late James) Culliton, Dale Salata, Peter (Jeannine) Salata, Michael (Jeanne) Salata, Kathleen (Myles Sobczak) Salata, Maureen Morrissey, Robert (Adelah) Morrissey Jr., and Kristin (Matthew) Graham; and many great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gerard Felix "Gerry" Salata and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gerry Salata as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
