SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gerard Felix "Gerry" Salata of Waukegan,
4who passed away on October 7, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerry Salata graduated from North Chicago High
6School in 1966; he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and
7was deployed to Vietnam; his specialty was security, and he
8earned several medals during his tour; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gerry Salata worked at Johnson Outboard Motors
10until being hired as a security guard at St. Therese Hospital
11in Waukegan; he retired from the hospital after 38 years of
12service; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Gerry Salata loved his family, many of his
14colleagues, and his dogs; he appreciated the close friendships
15he made at the hospital; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Gerry Salata was preceded in death by his parents,
17Felix and Julia (Bonk) Salata, and his brothers and
18sisters-in-law, Felix "Bud" (Irene Hukala) Salata and Thomas
19"Tommy" (Marie "Lana" Watson) Salata; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gerry Salata is survived by his sister, Mary Alice

1(the late Robert) Morrissey; his nieces and nephews, "Vicki"
2(the late James) Culliton, Dale Salata, Peter (Jeannine)
3Salata, Michael (Jeanne) Salata, Kathleen (Myles Sobczak)
4Salata, Maureen Morrissey, Robert (Adelah) Morrissey Jr., and
5Kristin (Matthew) Graham; and many great-nieces and
6great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Gerard Felix "Gerry" Salata and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Gerry Salata as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
