SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Sheldon Lovinger, who passed away on
4October 3, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sheldon Lovinger was born in Scranton,
6Pennsylvania to William and Evelyn Lovinger on December 31,
71927; he graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1945
8and then studied at the University of Wisconsin in Madison; he
9served in the U.S. Army; he was the former spouse of Connie
10Lovinger; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Sheldon Lovinger worked with his father at
12Lovinger's Store for Men on Genesee Street before joining him
13in their new venture, Lovinger Real Estate; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Sheldon Lovinger was an active member in his
15community; he served as president of the Lake County Shrine
16Club, the Waukegan City Club, the Lake County Board of
17Realtors, Bnai Brith, the Jack Benny PTO, and the North Shore
18Tennis Association; he was a longtime member of the Glen Flora
19and Mission Hills Country Clubs, where he enjoyed many rounds
20of golf, including a hole-in-one; playing gin rummy with the
21guys in the locker room was his favorite pastime; and

1    WHEREAS, Sheldon Lovinger was a longtime member of
2Congregation Am Echod; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Sheldon Lovinger is survived by his sister, Joan
4Shaugnessy; her daughters, Marcia L. Battista and Diane C.
5Wendricks; his son, Jeffrey; eight grandchildren; and five
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Sheldon Lovinger and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Sheldon Lovinger as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
