SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Cerk of Waukegan, who passed away on August 25, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Charles Cerk graduated from Waukegan High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army from April 19, 1956 to March 26, 1958; and

WHEREAS, Charles Cerk retired from US Steel and Abbott Laboratories; and

WHEREAS, Charles Cerk was a member of Zion-Benton Moose Lodge 667, the Abbott Men's Club, the US Steel Retirees Club, and the Slovenic National Home; and

WHEREAS, Charles Cerk was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lisle Cerk; his sister, Jean Bauer; and his nephew, Craig Bauer; and

WHEREAS, Charles Cerk is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet; his daughters, Cheryl (Roger) Kreul and Caryn (Tony) Martin; his grandchildren, Alex (Robin) Kreul, Zachary Kreul, Mitchell Kreul, Angelica Kreul, Lauren Ripley, and Benjamin Tollefson; his great-grandchild, Michael John; and his brother-in-law Dan (Pat) Furlan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Cerk and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Cerk as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
