SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Chicago Police Department Officer Samuel Jimenez, who passed away on November 19, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jimenez was killed in the line of duty while responding to gun shots in the area of Mercy Hospital's emergency room on Chicago's South Side; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jimenez attended Foreman High School in Chicago and Northeastern Illinois University; after graduating from the police academy, he was assigned to the Town Hall District and then to Wentworth on the South Side; he earned two honorable mentions during his less than two years with the department; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jimenez and his family regularly attended Mass at the Chapel of St. Joseph at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jimenez was a loving husband, father, friend, and colleague; he had a passion to serve others; and

WHEREAS, Officer Jimenez is survived by his wife, Crystal, and his three children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Chicago Police Department Officer Samuel Jimenez and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Officer Jimenez as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
