SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Steven Elliot Bortko of Belleville, who passed away on November 18, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Steven Bortko was born in Maryville to Michael and Patricia (Tietze) Bortko on August 23, 1978; and

WHEREAS, Steven Bortko was employed as an operating engineer by the City of Belleville; he was a member of Operating Engineer's Local #148; and

WHEREAS, Steven Bortko enjoyed playing guitar and drums and drawing; he also enjoyed trying new recipes and perfecting his meat smoking skills; most of all, he loved spending time with his daughters, his cat, and his friends; he had a great sense of humor and will be missed by many; and

WHEREAS, Steven Bortko was preceded in death by his daughter, Abigail Rose Bortko; and

WHEREAS, Steven Bortko is survived by his parents; his significant other and the love of his life, Crystal Ehlen; his children, Zoe Bortko and Angel Hettenhausen; his sister, Kate Bortko; his aunts, MariLu King and Melody Anders; his uncle, Dennis Bortko; and his many cousins and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Steven Elliot Bortko and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Steven Bortko as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
