SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard "Dick" Shockey of Danville, who passed away on November 17, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Dick Shockey was born in Lineville, Iowa to Earl Dean and Noreen Avis (Gooden) Shockey; he graduated from Northeast Missouri State College, now Truman State, and received his master's and specialized education from Drake University; he married Jane Ellen Sponsler in Leon, Iowa on August 14, 1965; and

WHEREAS, Dick Shockey was Vice President of Administration and Finance at DACC from 1989 until 2005; he was CEO of Lakeview College of Nursing from 2004 until 2013; and

WHEREAS, Dick Shockey was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Danville Boat Club; he served on the civic center board and was the director of the NJCAA Basketball Tournament for many years; and

WHEREAS, Dick Shockey was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Dick Shockey is survived by his wife, Jane Ellen; his son, Rhett (Meara) Shockey; his brother, Rick Shockey; his sister, Patty Oliver; his granddaughters, Rowen and Arden Shockey; and his many extended family and special friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard "Dick" Shockey and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dick Shockey as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
