SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Caroline Maxine Holford of Peoria, who
4passed away on October 22, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Caroline Holford was born in Peoria to Harry and
6Anna (Klochenga) Ward on June 11, 1943; she loved Peoria and
7played on the river as a child; she married Eugene Holford on
8June 11, 1960; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Caroline Holford worked at the Hometown Buffet for
10three years and loved working with people and the staff there;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1997, Caroline Holford became the town "Rat
13Lady" when she fought city hall on her own because a young boy
14was afraid to sleep in his bedroom; and
 
15    WHEREAS In 2000, Caroline Holford was asked to serve on the
16Heartland Clinic Board, the first patient to do so, where she
17served until 2011; she also served on the Housing and Property
18Commission, under three mayors; she helped raise money for
19neighborhood leaders to travel to other cities; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Caroline Holford loved people, her community, her

1family, and her faith; she had a great sense of humor and was
2loyal to the people that she loved; she enjoyed playing
3shuffleboard, singing karaoke, and dancing; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Caroline Holford was preceded in death by her
5parents and her husband, Eugene; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Caroline Maxine Holford and extend our sincere condolences to
9her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Caroline Holford as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
