SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gary R. Lietz of Champaign, who passed away on November 6, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Gary Lietz graduated from Champaign Central High School in 1969, Denison University in 1973, and John Marshall Law School in 1976; and

WHEREAS, Gary Lietz was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1977 and practiced law for the entirety of his career in Champaign, primarily at his practice of Lietz, Banner and Ford; and

WHEREAS, Gary Lietz was a devoted husband to Peggy, and they enjoyed spending time with their many close friends and family; he took pride in being an involved father who was a constant support to his children; he received great joy in becoming a grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, be it in Illinois, Michigan, or at Disney World; and

WHEREAS, Gary Lietz was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy (Mitchell) Lietz; his parents, Dr. Gerald S. and Kathryn Z. Lietz; and his mother-in-law, Annie (Pruitt) Mitchell; and

WHEREAS, Gary Lietz is survived by his daughter, Emily (William) Vliek; his son, Jordan (Devin Richardson) Lietz; his grandsons, William and Charlie Vliek; his brothers, Greg (Marie) and Ronald Lietz; his father-in-law, Philip Mitchell; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his granddogs, Henry and Granger; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gary R. Lietz and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gary Lietz as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
