SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Billy Duane "Bill" Jackson of Anna, who
4passed away on September 21, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Jackson was born in Ware to Harvey William
6Jackson and Edna Mae Tucker on February 14, 1937; he served in
7the United States Air Force in Korea; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Along with his wife, Bill Jackson owned and
9operated the Union County Press in Anna and the Jackson Peach
10Orchard for many years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bill Jackson was Assistant Chief of the Anna Fire
12and Rescue Department for 57 years, from 1961 until 2018; his
13devotion to the Anna Fire and Rescue Department was
14unparalleled; while being honored as Fireman of the Month, he
15said that if he had been born rich, he would have been a
16professional volunteer; he worked tirelessly to ensure
17everyone and every detail was taken care of; he was passionate
18in his desire to help others, especially his community; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bill Jackson served on the Anna-Jonesboro
20Community High School District No. 81 School Board of
21Education, the Union County Chamber of Commerce, and as a Union

1County Commissioner; he was an avid fan of the St. Louis
2Cardinals; he enjoyed woodworking, drawing, building, and
3restoring automobiles; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Bill Jackson was preceded in death by his parents
5and his grandchild, Renee Solomon; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bill Jackson is survived by his wife, Patricia;
7his daughter, Vickie (Hal E. Gordon M.D.) Jackson Gordon; his
8stepdaughter, Nona Evans; his stepson, Flint Hileman; his
9grandchildren, Tee Jay Hileman and Mariah DeRossett; his
10great-grandchildren, Tanner Solomon and Masson Hileman; his
11sisters, Joan (Howard) Green and Doris Jean Samuels; and his
12many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Billy Duane "Bill" Jackson and extend our sincere condolences
16to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Bill Jackson as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
