SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of David Zola of Urbana, who passed away on
4September 28, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Zola was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts to
6Remo and Elinor Zola on May 29, 1947; he graduated from Lenox
7High School in 1965; he continued his education at Fairfield
8University, Williams College, and Cornell University; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In 1978, David Zola accepted a position as an
10assistant research professor at the University of Illinois and
11for the next 40 years distinguished himself as an outstanding
12teacher and professor in the College of Education; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Outside of the classroom, David Zola served as a
14youth minister at St. Patrick Parish; he was ordained as a
15deacon in May 2012, a role which allowed him to positively
16influence the lives of others every day; and
 
17    WHEREAS, David Zola lived to mentor and encourage his
18students and fostered many long-lasting friendships along the
19way; he considered his children as his greatest gifts; he
20affected many lives and will be remembered for his humor,
21grace, and compassion; and

1    WHEREAS, David Zola is survived by his wife, Susan; his
2daughters, Sarah (Eli) Zola Khazoum and Anne Zola; his son,
3Luke Zola; and his sister, Dale Zola; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6David Zola and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
7friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of David Zola as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
