SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joanne Martha "Jody" Armstrong-Moon, who passed away on August 2, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Jody Armstrong-Moon was born to William G. and Beulah E. (Ealy) Wiegand in St. Charles on November 21, 1934; she attended Geneva High School and received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago; she married Andrew "Andy" F. H. Armstrong in 1959, and they settled in Mt. Carroll; she later married Don P. Moon, and they moved to Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, In Mt. Carroll, Jody Armstrong-Moon opened a lunch, gift, and clothing store, The Runaway Unicorn, which expanded to Freeport and Clinton, Iowa; she later built a career in Chicago real estate and supported her husband Don's work as president of Shimer College and minister at Christ Episcopal Church in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Jody Armstrong-Moon enjoyed painting, writing, gardening, hiking, and traveling to visit family with Don and their beloved dog, Jed; and

WHEREAS, Jody Armstrong-Moon was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Sarah Armstrong; and

WHEREAS, Jody Armstrong-Moon is survived by her husband, Don; her sister, Joyce Wiegand-Bavas; her brother, Thomas (Suzanne Newton) Wiegand; her daughters, Meg (Barry Guiduli) Armstrong and Jennifer (James Taylor) Armstrong; her stepdaughters, Barbara (Bruce) Showalter, Sharon (Jim Schroder) Moon, and Joanna (Michael) Bass; her stepson, Stephen (Diana Lowry) Moon; her granddaughters, Jessica Armstrong and Sofia Guiduli; her grandson, Bruno Guiduli; and her nieces and a nephew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joanne Martha "Jody" Armstrong-Moon and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jody Armstrong-Moon as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
