SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joanne Martha "Jody" Armstrong-Moon, who
4passed away on August 2, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jody Armstrong-Moon was born to William G. and
6Beulah E. (Ealy) Wiegand in St. Charles on November 21, 1934;
7she attended Geneva High School and received her Bachelor of
8Arts from the University of Chicago; she married Andrew "Andy"
9F. H. Armstrong in 1959, and they settled in Mt. Carroll; she
10later married Don P. Moon, and they moved to Waukegan; and
 
11    WHEREAS, In Mt. Carroll, Jody Armstrong-Moon opened a
12lunch, gift, and clothing store, The Runaway Unicorn, which
13expanded to Freeport and Clinton, Iowa; she later built a
14career in Chicago real estate and supported her husband Don's
15work as president of Shimer College and minister at Christ
16Episcopal Church in Waukegan; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jody Armstrong-Moon enjoyed painting, writing,
18gardening, hiking, and traveling to visit family with Don and
19their beloved dog, Jed; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jody Armstrong-Moon was preceded in death by her
21parents and her daughter, Sarah Armstrong; and

1    WHEREAS, Jody Armstrong-Moon is survived by her husband,
2Don; her sister, Joyce Wiegand-Bavas; her brother, Thomas
3(Suzanne Newton) Wiegand; her daughters, Meg (Barry Guiduli)
4Armstrong and Jennifer (James Taylor) Armstrong; her
5stepdaughters, Barbara (Bruce) Showalter, Sharon (Jim
6Schroder) Moon, and Joanna (Michael) Bass; her stepson, Stephen
7(Diana Lowry) Moon; her granddaughters, Jessica Armstrong and
8Sofia Guiduli; her grandson, Bruno Guiduli; and her nieces and
9a nephew; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Joanne Martha "Jody" Armstrong-Moon and extend our sincere
13condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
14him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Jody Armstrong-Moon as an expression
17of our deepest sympathy.
