SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ellen Rae Sonntag of Crystal Lake, who passed away on August 17, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Sonntag was born in Chicago to LaVerne and Eleanor (O'Brien) Rennhak on December 18, 1944; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Sonntag retired from the McHenry County Housing Authority, where she was the Executive Director; she volunteered to do the taxes of many seniors in the area; and

WHEREAS, In her free time and in retirement, she enjoyed her beautiful garden and could name every flower she was growing; she liked to swim in her backyard pool, read a good book, and spend time with her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Sonntag was preceded in death by her parents and her sons, Sean, Timothy, and Brian; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Sonntag is survived by her grandson, Guinness Sonntag; her sister, Mary Jane (Michael) Cole; her nephew, John (Catherine) McNamara; her great-niece and great-nephew, Lauren and Andrew McNamara; and her dear friends, Gail and Tom Lehner; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ellen Rae Sonntag and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ellen Sonntag as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
