SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of LaVerna Stone of Johnsburg, who passed away on August 5, 2018; and

WHEREAS, LaVerna Stone was born in Johnsburg on the Peter F. Freund Dairy Farm to Peter F. and Susie (Miller) Freund on September 15, 1923; she married John Stone at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on September 1, 1951; and

WHEREAS, LaVerna Stone worked in the white room of her father's dairy farm and enjoyed giving the neighborhood children rides on her pony, Spotty; she then worked at Oaks Manufacturing Company in Crystal Lake; and

WHEREAS, LaVerna Stone was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church; she enjoyed dancing to 15-piece bands, especially at Nels, the Fox Hole, and the Lake Geneva Belvidere; and

WHEREAS, LaVerna Stone was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; and her sisters, Viola (Robert) Snyder, Alice (Robert) Wilke, and Caroline (Everett) Thomas; and

WHEREAS, LaVerna Stone is survived by her niece, Susan (Jim) Geisler; and her many grandnieces and grandnephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of LaVerna Stone and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of LaVerna Stone as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
