SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Guadalupe "Lupe" Marta Lopez Ferreira, who passed away on June 20, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Lupe Ferreira was born to Ramon and Julia Moreno Lopez on April 13, 1929; and

WHEREAS, Lupe Ferreira was an executive secretary and administrator at Joliet Junior College for 31 years and took pride in mentoring many students; and

WHEREAS, Lupe Ferreira was a member of several social organizations, including the Business Professional Women's Club; she gave selflessly of her time and volunteered for many organizations, including the Daybreak Shelter and at Silver Cross Hospital, St Joseph Hospital, and the Will County Health Center as a Spanish-speaking translator and greeter; she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister; and

WHEREAS, Lupe Ferreira was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Ferreira Sr.; her parents; her brothers, Henry, Jesse, George, and Antonio Lopez; and her sisters, Socorro and Catalina Lopez; and

WHEREAS, Lupe Ferreira is survived by her sons, Ben Ferreira Jr. and Stewart Ferreira; her daughter, Denise (Dave Ryan) Ferreira; her grandson, Jason (Xochitl) Ferreira; her twin great-granddaughters, Ayari and Quetzalli; her sister, Aurora (Mona) Gallegos; her brothers, Charles, Ernest, Paul, David, and Ray; and her many nieces, nephews, and in-laws; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Guadalupe "Lupe" Marta Lopez Ferreira and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lupe Ferreira as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
