SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eddie B. "Ed" Stafford of Jacksonville,
4who passed away on March 19, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ed Stafford was born in Jacksonville to Ralph and
6Irene Berry Stafford on December 20, 1930; he graduated from
7Jacksonville High School in 1949 and married Kathy Baker on
8December 31, 1981; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ed Stafford's career began at Prairie Farms Dairy,
10where he quickly moved up to route supervisor, then to manager
11by the age of 24, and later to sales supervisor for all of
12Western Illinois, Northeast Missouri, and Southeast Iowa; he
13made his home in Quincy and spent 15 years in the dairy
14business; he made a career change in 1968 and began working at
15Bound to Stay Bound Books; he had a brief stint as national
16sales manager for the American Companies of Kansas and then
17traveled for Bound to Stay Bound as a west central division
18manager for the next 30 years, covering a territory of 12
19Midwestern states; after retirement from Bound to Stay Bound,
20he started a small business, Sta-Bilt Enterprises, which grew
21over the next 10 years in the Jacksonville area; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Ed Stafford was very proud of his family; he

1enjoyed traveling and meeting people, sharing experiences,
2family history, and dog stories; he was a man of strong
3convictions; he was generous, kind, and willing to help others;
4he was a positive role model; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ed Stafford was preceded in death by his daughter,
6Lu Ann Stafford; his parents; his sister, Wilma Jean Stafford;
7and his brother, Wilbur Stafford; and
 
8    WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Ed Stafford was survived
9by his wife, Kathy, who has since passed; he is survived by his
10children, Beverly Bea (Steven Kent) Pahlmann, Roxanna Rae (Rod)
11Hollenstine, Edward Andrew (Demetria) Stafford, and Lance
12Matthew (Heather) Stafford; his sister, Nancy (Tom) Cooney; his
13brother, Don (Denise) Stafford; three granddaughters; one
14grandson; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Eddie B. "Ed" Stafford, and extend our sincere condolences to
19his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Ed Stafford as an expression of our
