SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Roger G. "Willie" Williams of Schaumburg,
4who passed away on May 12, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Williams was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to
6Glenn and Dorothy (Rogers) Williams on June 22, 1935; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Roger Williams began his career in the United
8States Navy, where he served for over 20 years; that career
9took him around the world, and he earned the rank of Master
10Chief; after he retired from the Navy, he embarked on a 20-year
11career with Spring Telecommunication; he also dedicated his
12time to local politics; for over 25 years, he sat on several
13boards within the Village of Schaumburg, including the Planning
14Committee, Bikeways Committee, and he eventually served as
15Chairman of The Zoning Board of Appeals; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Roger Williams was an avid gardener and grew
17tomatoes and other vegetables; his nurturing and patient
18demeanor yielded him the most succulent toasted tomato
19sandwiches, which he enjoyed with extra pepper; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Roger Williams was preceded in death by his
21parents and his brother, Gene; and

1    WHEREAS, Roger Williams is survived by his wife, Katherine;
2his children, Debra (James) Teufel, Roger II, David (Maggie),
3and Daniel (Lori); his grandchildren, Katie (Jim) Parker, Kevin
4Teufel, Michael Teufel, and Alyssa, Ryan, Trevor, Trenton,
5Tommy, and Abby Williams; his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn
6and Nicholas Parker; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Roger G. "Willie" Williams and extend our sincere condolences
10to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Roger Williams as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
