SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lillian C. Benes of McHenry, who passed
4away on April 26, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lillian Benes was born in Chicago to John and
6Bessie (Safranek) Winter on July 31, 1921; she married Charles
7F. Benes in Chicago on October 7, 1950; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Lillian Benes worked for Illinois Bell for 12
9years; during that period, she took a leave from her work to
10enlist in the United States Navy and served her country in
11World War II; after her marriage, she assisted her husband in
12running their fresh fruit and vegetable stand, Benes & Son, in
13Chicago; she also spent time perfecting her bowling game; in
141965, she and her husband moved their family to McHenry, where
15she worked for Modine for ten years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lillian Benes was a loving mother, grandmother,
17great-grandmother, and friend; she will be missed by all who
18knew her; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Lillian Benes was preceded in death by her parents
20and her husband, Charles; and

1    WHEREAS, Lillian Benes is survived by her children, Steven
2(Eloise) Benes and Debra (Michael) Atchison; her
3grandchildren, John (Amm) Benes, Susan (Michael) Gregory, and
4Jessica, Katie, and Shelby Atchison; her great-grandchildren,
5Kaia, Marcus, and McKenzie; and her many nieces and nephews;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Lillian C. Benes and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Lillian Benes as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
