SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lillian C. Benes of McHenry, who passed away on April 26, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Benes was born in Chicago to John and Bessie (Safranek) Winter on July 31, 1921; she married Charles F. Benes in Chicago on October 7, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Benes worked for Illinois Bell for 12 years; during that period, she took a leave from her work to enlist in the United States Navy and served her country in World War II; after her marriage, she assisted her husband in running their fresh fruit and vegetable stand, Benes & Son, in Chicago; she also spent time perfecting her bowling game; in 1965, she and her husband moved their family to McHenry, where she worked for Modine for ten years; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Benes was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend; she will be missed by all who knew her; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Benes was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Benes is survived by her children, Steven (Eloise) Benes and Debra (Michael) Atchison; her grandchildren, John (Amm) Benes, Susan (Michael) Gregory, and Jessica, Katie, and Shelby Atchison; her great-grandchildren, Kaia, Marcus, and McKenzie; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lillian C. Benes and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lillian Benes as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
