SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William B. "Bill" Johnson of Joliet, who passed away on May 1, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Bill Johnson was born in St. Charles to Lois and Carl Johnson on February 4, 1945; he graduated from Kaneland High School in 1963; he earned his bachelor of science degree at the University of Illinois in 1967 and his master of science degree in 1968; he was also a Bronze Tablet recipient at the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Bill Johnson recently celebrated his 50th year as an Agriculture Instructor at Joliet Junior College; he began his career at Joliet Junior College on September 1, 1968 and was hired by Elmer Rowley, the college's first president; he was a fierce advocate for agricultural education, and his loyalty and dedication to the agriculture program at Joliet Junior College, and the agriculture community, was unmatched; he was incredibly forward thinking about how to draw young people into Agriculture education; and

WHEREAS, Bill Johnson was a leader, not only in the classroom, but also in the community; he served on the Joliet Junior College Foundation Board since 2010; he touched many lives throughout his career, often spanning three generations of a single family; and

WHEREAS, Bill Johnson was preceded in death by his father; and

WHEREAS, Bill Johnson is survived by his mother; his brother, David C. (Linda) Johnson; his niece, Kimberly A. (Chad) Walter; his nephew, Dr. Michael D. (Barbara) Johnson; his great-nieces, Meredith and Caroline Johnson; and his great-nephew, Leo Johnson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William B. "Bill" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
